Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines football scholarship for his family with service for the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children Lucious and Jessie Semon who grew up on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he was along with three brothers for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the national by Outland, Lombardi and the Outland Awards. Oklahoma has won two National Championships during his three-year tenure as the starting linebacker. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975. He was also named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during college. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. He also began a career in business. In 1988, he joined the ranks of an account liaison officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He as well worked for the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of America's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs when playing in the college football league. The year 1975 was the first time he led the team. He became the associate director of athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. In 1988 his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into both it into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 handed out their Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
