She desperately needed medical assistance that could save her life and was put on ECMO life support at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston. The patient became septic and suffered several organ failures, including the kidneys that did not recover. Her new norm was hemodialyses and peritoneal-dialysis. After having spent 80 days in the hospital her condition changed from close to death, and then a lengthy recuperation road. Angelica endured dialysis treatments for over a decade half of that time before she was able to undergo her kidney transplant. The kidney she would receive from her mom. Angelica together with her mom, underwent an organ transplant successfully on the 13th of September, 2013 at two amazing hospitals that were situated right next to each other: Emory University Hospital & Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston.
